OUR STORY

The roots of TSC Showpigs Tams Can® run deep, tracing back to the visionary endeavors of Clyde Shaffer Sr. and Ginger Shaffer. Decades ago, Clyde and Ginger set the standard in the pork production. Today, their legacy lives on through their grandson, Tate Shaffer Coulter, who with a combination of respect for the past and a vision for the future, carries the torch forward.

OUR TEAM

TATE COULTER

Tate Coulter is the Founder and Owner of TSC Showpigs Tams Can® LLC. He leads the vision, growth, and strategic direction of the operation, with a focus on breeding elite Tamworth livestock capable of competing at the highest level. Tate brings together a background in agriculture, business, and law, allowing him to build a program centered on elite genetics, strong customer support, and long term success for families in the show ring.

MIKE + TONIA COULTER

Tonia and Mike are the Heads of Operations at TSC Showpigs Tams Can® LLC. Tonia and Mike are responsible for handling all day-to-day operations of our farms. Tonia is the daughter of Clyde Shaffer Sr., the founder of Shaffer Farms known today as Shaffer’s Goldrush and Shaffer Superior Genetics. Mike grew up on Coulter Farms located in Fairmount, Indiana. Additionally, Mike was one of the key members in the development of Shaffer’s Goldrush AI and semen collection operations. Tonia and Mike’s combined experience ensures our operations run in the most efficient manner.

TANNER + HOPE COULTER

Hope Coulter is the Head of Administrative Matters at TSC Showpigs Tams Can® LLC. Hope has many years of experience in hospital administration, and now is applying her unique skillset here at TSC Showpigs Tams Can® LLC. TIM + KATIE SUDERMAN

Tim and Katie are the Heads of Herd Management at TSC Showpigs Tams Can® LLC. Tim and Katie are the owners and operators of Suderman Swine and have years of experience with herd management. Tim and Katie use that wealth of knowledge to ensure the efficient management of our Tamworth Herd.

CALEB GILLIS

Caleb Gillis serves as the Chief Genetic Officer at TSC Showpigs Tams Can® LLC. With a lifelong background in exhibiting, evaluating, and acquiring top-tier livestock across the country, Caleb brings unmatched experience and insight to our team. At Tams Can, he plays a vital role in sourcing elite sows and sires that build the foundation for the champions you see in the ring.

TAMMY - THE SPARK OF A REVOLUTION

Our journey began in 2018 with Tate at the helm and a singular Tamworth sow named Tammy, the Champion Tamworth Gilt and Grand Overall Gilt at the Delaware County Fair. Tammy became the cornerstone of our lineage. From her first litter emerged Fury, the 2021 Tamworth Man of the Year, and another standout (4th Overall Tamworth Barrow at the Team Purebred Junior National). Her subsequent litter graced us with the dam of Hardwood and the $19,000 world record setting Tamworth boar, “That Much Better”.
